Grilled Strawberry Recipe

Updated: Jun 1, 2022

Fire up the grill and make these grilled strawberries for a unique and tasty treat. They're perfect for a summer cookout or BBQ.

Ingredients

1 pound of fresh strawberries

2 teaspoons espresso balsamic

2 teaspoons chocolate syrup

1 teaspoon oil (for coating the grill)

Preparation

Wash the berries, leaving them WHOLE with the stems intact. Let dry and keep room temp. Combine the chocolate syrup and espresso balsamic in a bowl and set aside. Heat the grill to medium heat.

Place the washed strawberries on skewers, but do not crowd them. Try to place similar size berries together on the same skewer. This makes it a little easier for even cooking (the larger the berry, the longer time on the grill).

Use either double-pronged stainless steel skewers (berries less likely to slip and fall off) or wooden skewers, but be sure to soak them in water for about 15 minutes before placing them on the berries.

Brush the grill grates with oil to prevent the berries from sticking.

Place the skewers on the oiled grill. Cook for about 8-9 minutes (depending on the size of the berries). Be sure to turn several times, so all sides get nice grill marks.

Berries are done when they are warm and nicely charred. Cooking times will vary depending on the size of the strawberries and the heat of the grill. Usually about 5 minutes for side for nice big berries.

Once the grilled fruit is ready, remove from the grill and place on a serving tray. You can simply drizzle glaze over the berries. The combination of sweet berries, a hint of chocolate, and a nice hit of espresso balsamic (along with the perfect glass of white wine) are perfect for a BBQ party.
